Art of the Landscape - Cognisance (2020) by Christopher David Thompson
'Art of the Landscape – Cognisance'.

This collection of recent works were taken in southern New Zealand over a period of the last four years. The book – over 210 pages of it, features my favourite beautiful landscapes, and personal anecdotes about the images, or at times the experience that led up to the taking of them.

This is a very personal book, that in addition to the photography gives some insight into my thought and emotional processes when out in our beautiful wilderness, trying to capture the art of the landscape and the wondrous moments nature presents to us.

I am extremely grateful to celebrated photographer and environmentalist Craig Potton for doing me the great honour of writing the foreword for this new book

In Craig's words: "There is nothing brash, ironic or even contemporary about Christopher’s images. When viewing them for the first or hundredth time you are seduced by a well-practiced, well-honed and nuanced art in which everything is considered and beautiful.

He’s a photographer of exquisite coloured surfaces that don’t shout loudly at first glance but rather gently invite you into their harmonious and powerful world".

As one of our lovely customers said when seeing a preview copy; 'It's not a book – it's a collection of artworks!' – we couldn't have expressed it better ourselves!

The 30 x 30cm hardcover book is printed on premium Mohawk 148gsm archival-quality exquisite eggshell-textured uncoated paper.
