  • Christopher Thompson, a professional graphic designer and photographer based in Wanaka, Central Otago, has an understated but well deserved reputation as an outstanding landscape and outdoor photographer and creative. He has always desired to be a landscape artist, and it is through the medium of photography that he has found his forté.<br /> <br /> His highly collectible limited edition fine art photographic prints have been popular both in New Zealand and abroad for their quality and artistic merit and his work has featured in a variety of New Zealand publications.<br /> <br /> “Photography is the art of moments. Those moments are happening all around us at any point in time, whether they be moments between people or moments of absolute wonder in nature, the skill of the photographer as an artist then, is being able to perceive, feel and capture those moments. <br /> <br /> I am greatly moved and enraptured by what I see in nature and the environment, from small details to grandiose landscapes. My own state of emotion will react to what I see and make me photograph in a certain way, so these images are hopefully imbued to some degree with all the feelings and sensations of the experience that led up to the taking of that particular photograph. Whether anyone else, as a viewer, can understand or pick up on that sense of mood is, I’m sure, a debatable point, but for me personally I always attempt to capture far more than just a pictorial image, the images taken being the very summations of the experience that I desired to remember, represent and reflect upon.”

  • My true passion in life is the love of the outdoors, mountains, wildlife, oceans, rivers, and lakes. <br /> <br /> My journey into photography is nothing unique. Graduating from Auckland University in 2002 with Engineering and Commerce Bachelors Degrees, I found life lackluster. Packing up and selling nearly everything I owned, I ended up embarking on a 4.5 year adventure, through Canada, Alaska and the UK, where I based myself for 3.5 years travelling the world several times. It was during this time that my love for photography grew, walking in the mountains of Alaska with Moose, Brown Bears and Bald Eagles or the small narrow alley ways of European Cities; my camera was never far away. Whilst being nothing more than a ‘dude with a camera’ travelling freely around, my desire to live a ‘normal secure life’ climbing the corporate ladder to ‘success’ dwindled, and the adventure of having a career based around my quickly growing passion of Photography grew stronger. So after months of inner debate, years of feeling unfulfilled in my life’s direction, I pushed through the constant mental barriers and moved back to New Zealand, moving to Queenstown in 2009 to pursue my new unfamiliar lifestyle in my new unfamiliar home.<br /> In 2012 I became an Associate Member of the NZIPP (ANZIPP) due to the success of my imagery at the 2012 Epson NZIPP Iris Print Competition, where I gained 1 Gold, 5 Silvers and 4 Bronze Awards for my work, and was also the Runner-Up in the Illustrative Category. My style is constantly developing, and with the experience of 2012 behind me, I am hopeful of further success in the future in print awards. The past few years have been a journey, and I am looking forward to the future and the opportunities it brings.<br /> You can find me every Saturday at the Earnslaw Park Arts and Craft Market in Queenstown.

He has photographed extensively in New Zealand, its sub-Antartctic islands, and the Dry Valleys of Antarctica. More recently he has worked as a location/stills photographer on Lord of the Rings, Peter Pan and The Lion, The Witch and The wardrobe movies. His work has been exhibited widely in New Zealand, as well as in Australia and the USA.<br /> He is also the author of many acclaimed photographic books, and the founder of Craig Potton Publishing, which he now runs out of Nelson with his business partner Robbie Burton. Craig Potton Publishing is one of New Zealand’s largest independent publishing companies, and produces a diverse range of non-fiction books and calendars.


  • Mike is past President of The New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography, an EOS Master and is Co-Director at the Queenstown Centre for Creative Photography with his wife Jackie Ranken.<br /> <br /> Mike Langford is a Master Photog. III and Fellow of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) and a Fellow and Honorary Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography (NZIPP). <br /> He has been a professional photographer for over 30 years and an International Awards judge and lecturer for 20 years. <br /> He has been awarded Australian Geographic Photographer of the Year, NSW AIPP Photographer of the Year, twice AIPP Landscape Photographer of the Year, the NZIPP Photographer of the Year, NZIPP Corporate/Industrial Photographer of the Year and NZIPP Landscape Photographer of the Year and is the current AIPP Travel Photographer of the Year. He is also the President of the New Zealand Institute of Professional Photography, an EOS Master & is co director the Queenstown Centre for Creative Photography with his wife Jackie Ranken).

  • “My image making is intuitive and spontaneous”<br /> Jackie has been a photographer for over 30 years.<br /> Jackie’s personal challenge is to capture the essence of where ever she is on the planet. To capture the beauty of shapes, textures and light, while at the same time referencing who she is and what she likes to photograph.<br /> Since 2003 Jackie has won Australian Photographer of the Year, and Australian Landscape Photographer of the Year twice. World Press Photo award 2nd Place, New Zealand Photographer of the Year, New Zealand Landscape Photographer of the year twice, New Zealand Illustrative Photographer of the Year three times and Editorial Photographer of the Year. She has won Highest Scoring Monochrome Print three times. <br /> In 2011 she was runner up Australian Landscape Photographer and won three categories at the New Zealand Professional Photography Awards and was a finalist for New Zealand Photographer of the Year.

  • Current interests include both landscape work using long exposures <br /> to explore notions of time and digitally produced still-life constructions.<br /> <br /> Paul was born in England and moved to Australia to study photography in the 1980’s at both Photography Studies College and the Australian College of Photography, Art & Communication, Melbourne. His formal portrait work of Asian boat people is represented in both the Australian National Gallery, Canberra and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. <br /> He retrurned to UK to work as a freelance photographer specialising in architectural work with clients including ‘Country Life’ magazine, ‘The Landmark Trust’ (an historic buildings trust), architects, housing associations etc. The work has appeared in magazines, brochures, annual reports and books. In England he gained an MA in Art & Design and Associateship to the Royal Photographic Society.<br /> He moved to New Zealand in 1997 where he teaches photography on a commercial photography and design degree programme at UCOL in Palmerston North. <br /> He has received Merit Awards resulting in work being published by the American magazine B&W which is circulated amongst photographers, collectors and curators. He has won a number of awards including Gold and Silver Medals at both New Zealand and Australian Professional Photography Awards, culminating in Associate of the AIPP, Fellow of the NZIPP (with two Gold Bars) and the 2008 NZIPP Creative Photographer of the Year Award. In 2009, he won the NZIPP Landscape Photographer of the Year Award and the Overalll 2009 NZIPP Professional Photographer of the Year Award. He was a finalist in the 2010 NZIPP Travel Photographer of the Year and he won the AIPP 2010 Australian Landscape Photographer of the Year Award. In 2011, he was a finalist in the New Zealand Landscape Photographer of the Year Award.
